Bandi Chhor Divas is also known as “The Celebration of Freedom.”  On this day  Guru Hargobind Sahib was released with 52 Kings from Gwalior Prison. “Bandi” means “imprisoned”, “Chhor” means “release” and “Divas” means “day” and together “Bandi Chhor Divas” means Prisoner Release Day.  Hundreds of prisoners had been wrongfully imprisoned without a trial or any other legal process.
